One NBA writer is proposing that the Indiana Pacers acquire Kyle Kuzma from the Washington Wizards.
Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Philadelphia 76ers, Pacers and Wizards:
Indiana Pacers get: Kyle Kuzma, Anthony Gill, Furkan Korkmaz
Washington Wizards get: Marcus Morris, KJ Martin, Jaden Springer, Isaiah Jackson
Philadelphia 76ers get: Buddy Hield, Delon Wright
The Pacers were interested in signing Kuzma this past offseason, but the swingman re-signed with the Wizards on a four-year, $90 million contract. Washington is off to a 2-11 start this season and Pincus believes Kuzma would be better suited to play for a winning team like Indiana.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Kyle Kuzma, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers Updates
Kuzma is averaging 23.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists on the season while shooting 47.6% from the floor, 35.6% from beyond the arc and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
The Pacers could start Tyrese Haliburton, Bruce Brown, Bennedict Mathurin, Kuzma and Myles Turner if Indiana’s front office figured out a way to acquire Kuzma from Washington.
“Kuzma is the right compromise with a sizable but not overbearing contract that drops in price yearly,” Pincus wrote. “Assuming he’s traded on his first day of eligibility (January 15), Kuzma would get a bonus nearing $12 million. While he can waive it, the assumption is that his cap number for the Pacers after a trade would be $28.5 million. His contract also has various incentives, but even if he hits them, Indiana isn’t near the NBA’s luxury tax threshold ($165.3 million).”
