Fans of rival NBA teams should take heed. The Orlando Magic are coming. This team looks ready to take a leap. They’ve been competitive this season.

Meanwhile, this team is young – they’re only likely to get better. Moreover, Orlando has assets. If they want, they’ve got the means to make a big trade.

The Magic are in an opportune position. They could simply watch their young core grow. On the other hand, they could seek a veteran to help them take a major leap forward.

What type of veteran should they be looking for? Well, the Magic could use a floor spacing guard. If that guard is a self-creator, that would be even better.

How about Terry Rozier of the Charlotte Hornets?

Charlotte Hornets Receive: F/C Jonathan Isaac, F Chuma Okeke, 2025 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – ORL)

Orlando Magic Receive: G Terry Rozier

Give the Magic a lot of credit. This team has done a great job of rebuilding. That isn’t an easy thing to do. If you need proof, just look at this team’s recent history.

The Magic aren’t just rebuilding. Realistically, they’re rebuilding from a rebuild. Sure, Orlando made the playoffs here and there during the Nikola Vucevic era.

They were never serious title contenders. In fact, they even ended up in the lottery on more than one occasion during that timeframe.

Jonathan Isaac is a relic from that bygone era. At one time, he was the most exciting part of this team. By now, it feels like the Magic have left Isaac behind.

Should they send him to Charlotte?

Yes, the Magic have done a tremendous job of rebuilding. It hasn’t been perfect. This team has a swath of quality young guards, but they’ve got overlapping weaknesses.

Between Anthony Black, Jalen Suggs, and Markelle Fultz, they’ve got a severe lack of floor spacing. Even Cole Anthony is inconsistent from long-range.

By contrast, Rozier is a sniper. In fact, he’s having his best season from long range to date. He can also create his own shot and generate impressive rim pressure. If Rozier has a weakness, he can be prone to tunnel vision. Rozier doesn’t always set up his teammates.

That’s fine. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have enough playmaking chops between them to make up for that shortcoming. By adding a dangerous scoring guard like Rozier, the Magic would become a better team.

Should the Hornets part with him?

In some respects, the Hornets’ rebuilding process has been comparatively flawed. This team tried to add veterans before their young players were ready to compete. Moreover, they’ve blown some lottery picks on players like James Bouknight and Kai Jones.

It’s not all bad for the Hornets. LaMelo Ball remains one of the most exciting young players in the NBA. He had a rough start to the season, but he’s rounding back into form.

Meanwhile, Brandon Miller has been impressive as a rookie. The Hornets have hope – but they may want to focus their efforts around that star duo.

So, they’re moving on from the ball-dominant Rozier to see what they have in their young guns. Taking a flyer on Isaac makes sense. If he can get his body right, he could be a huge addition to this roster.

If not, the Hornets at least clear some cap space here. Here’s hoping they use it wisely – it’s Charlotte’s turn to put the NBA on notice soon.
