Los Angeles Clippers small forward Paul George is excited to play with James Harden. On the latest episode of his podcast, George talked about how Harden will fit with the Clippers.

The Clippers acquired Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers in a blockbuster trade. LAC head coach Tyronn Lue will start Harden, Russell Westbrook, George, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac against the New York Knicks in Harden’s debut with the team.

Harden averaged 21.0 points and 10.7 assists for the Sixers last season. He led the NBA in assists per game for the second time in his career.

“James is a superstar,” George said. “Another playmaker. Another scorer, leader. Really happy to have him here. … It’s not every day you get a chance to get a guy of his ability that wants to come and play on this team. It was worth taking a swing on, and so we felt that he could help us.”

Harden is friends with Westbrook, George and Leonard. All four All-Stars were born and raised in California. Harden and Westbrook were also teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets.

“I’m back home,” Harden said. “The comfort level of me being back around family and then having some really good players on this team. And then, basically all four dudes from California. This is a unique story.”

The Clippers are 3-2 through five games. Harden hasn’t played in a game since May 14, so he could be rusty versus the Knicks.
