The Cleveland Cavaliers are considered a landing spot for NBA veteran John Wall, who is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report thinks the Cavaliers could use Wall, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season.

“Wall didn’t shoot the ball well with the Clippers last season, but he did average 5.2 assists off the bench in only 22.2 minutes a game,” Swartz wrote. “His 35.3 assist percentage was higher than point guards like LaMelo Ball, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Darius Garland. If Wall can accept a role as a pass-first guard off the bench and occasional spot starter, the Cavs could use his services.”

Wall appeared in 34 games for the Clippers last season. He averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 40.8% from the field, 30.3% from 3 and 68.1% from the free-throw line.

The Clippers traded Wall to the Houston Rockets at the 2023 February trade deadline. The Rockets waived Wall, who wasn’t signed by a team.

Wall has career averages of 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists in 647 games with the Washington Wizards, Rockets and Clippers. He has made five All-Star teams, one All-NBA team and one All-Defensive team, all coming with the Wizards.

Wall is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, the super agent who represents Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. It will be fascinating to see if Wall plays in the NBA again. Swartz believes the Cavaliers should consider adding Wall since Ricky Rubio paused his career to focus on his mental health.
