One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls acquire Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and Cam Thomas from the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls and Nets:
The Brooklyn Nets trade Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, Cam Thomas and a 2027 first-round pick (top-eight protected, via PHI) to the Chicago Bulls for Zach LaVine
LaVine could be traded by the Bulls if the team gets off to a slow start this season, according to NBA insider Sam Amico. Chicago missed the playoffs last season after making it in 2022.
Rival teams have checked in with the Bulls about LaVine‘s availability, according to NBA insider Jamal Collier of ESPN. However, no team has been willing to meet Chicago’s asking price for LaVine, who signed a five-year, $215.2 million contract in July 2022.

Dinwiddie averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists last season, Finney-Smith averaged 8.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists and Thomas averaged 10.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
The Bulls could start Dinwiddie, Thomas, DeMar DeRozan, Finney-Smith and Nikola Vucevic if this trade idea Buckley came up with went through.
LaVine is “not happy” his name keeps coming up in trade rumors, sources told NBA Analysis Network. The Bulls have engaged multiple teams on LaVine trade opportunities since the 2022-23 season ended.
“Zach is not happy he keeps seeing his name pop up in trade rumors year after year,” the NBA source said. “He’s represented the Bulls and the city of Chicago very well. He’s made two All-Star teams. He helped them get back to the playoffs. He’s played through several injuries. He hasn’t been a locker room cancer. For whatever reason, the Bulls keep dangling him in trade talks and it’s rubbing him the wrong way.”
