New York Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley is eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension. If the Knicks and Quickley don’t agree to an extension, Quickley will become a restricted NBA free agent next offseason.
“That’s where my faith comes in,” Quickley said. “Really all up to God. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been fortunate to not even be worrying about it. It goes days, sometimes weeks, where I just forget about all that stuff. Unless somebody reminds me. So just coming in every day and trying to get better is my main focus.”
Quickley appeared in 81 games for the Knicks last season. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 81.9% from the free-throw line. The Knicks won 47 games in the regular season and were the fifth seed in the 2023 Eastern Conference playoffs.

New York defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2023 postseason in five games but lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in six games. Quickley averaged 9.0 points against the Cavaliers and Heat while shooting 34.8% overall and 24.3% from 3.
In 223 games with the Knicks, Quickley is averaging 12.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists. ESPN cap guru Bobby Marks estimated Quickley’s value at four years, $85 million.
NBA insider Ian Begley of SNY.TV “would be a bit surprised” if the Knicks don’t sign Quickley to a rookie-scale extension. The deadline to reach an agreement is October 24.

“I would be a bit surprised if they didn’t get a deal done,” Begley wrote. “Dating back to early last season, members of the organization felt that New York was unlikely to extend both Quickley and Obi Toppin. Plenty has happened since then. But Toppin, obviously, was moved to Indiana for two future second-round picks. And Quickley is coming off of a phenomenal season.”
