The Philadelphia 76ers have some big questions to answer ahead of the NBA training camp opening up next week. They still haven’t found a resolution to their James Harden problem, as he seems intent on having yet another change of scenery.
While trade talks centered around him have been slowly developing, the 76ers could have a new avenue to explore. The Damian Lillard blockbuster trade from the Portland Trail Blazer to the Milwaukee Bucks, which included the Phoenix Suns as well, has opened up opportunities for teams around the league.
That is because, as part of the deal, the Bucks traded Jrue Holiday to the Trail Blazers. Before the ink was dry on the deal, Portland was shopping the veteran guard around the league to contending teams looking for a backcourt upgrade.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jrue Holiday, Portland Trail Blazers & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
The 76ers have emerged as one of those teams that want to acquire Holiday. As shared by NBA insider Evan Sindrey, Philadelphia is aggressively pushing to acquire Holiday, per Shams Charania, during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Philadelphia has an interest in him, and Philadelphia is going to be going hard at him. So, James Harden would have to be a part of a transaction like that.”
Sindrey floated out another three-team possibility with the Los Angeles Clippers getting involved along with the Trail Blazers and 76ers. The Clippers would almost assuredly be the landing spot for Harden, as Portland likely has no interest in bringing the former MVP aboard for what looks like the start of a rebuild.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jrue Holiday, Portland Trail Blazers & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
Adding Holiday would be a great addition for Philadelphia as he would make for a great backcourt pairing alongside Tyrese Maxey. His defensive capabilities are something that the 76ers haven’t always had on the perimeter, and Holiday would bring championship experience along with him as well.
