One NBA writer is proposing that the Detroit Pistons trade for Memphis Grizzlies forwards Brandon Clarke and Ziaire Williams in a bold deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Grizzlies and Pistons:

The Pistons won only 17 games last season. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2019. Detroit drafted Ausar Thompson with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The team’s core is Thompson, Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart.

Clarke appeared in 56 games for the Grizzlies last season before suffering a season-ending Achilles tear in his left leg. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 65.6% from the field and 72.3% from the free-throw line.
Meanwhile, Williams appeared in 37 games for the Grizzlies in 2022-23. He averaged 5.7 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from the field, 25.8% from beyond the arc and 77.3% from the free-throw line. Williams was the 10th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Stanford.

The Pistons hired former Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams as their new man in charge. It’s going to be fascinating to see if Williams can lead Detroit back to the postseason in 2024. Buckley believes the Pistons could benefit from adding Clarke and Williams.
Clarke has career NBA averages of 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists, while Williams has career numbers of 7.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
