Clippers Acquire Jrue Holiday From Bucks In Massive Blockbuster Trade Proposal

Jrue Holiday, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, NBA trade rumors

One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Clippers acquire Jrue Holiday from the Milwaukee Bucks in a massive blockbuster trade. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Clippers and Bucks:

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Norman Powell, Terance Mann, Robert Covington, Bones Hyland, Amir Coffey

“There is no doubt that Jrue Holiday is a fantastic guard with championship experience,” Tran wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “He has shown that he can be the No. 3 option on a championship team with the Bucks in 2021: that is likely the role that he would play on the Clippers. It would definitely be interesting to see him in the backcourt with Russell Westbrook, as both are tenacious guards with a knack for perimeter defense. Holiday would likely play shooting guard due to his marksmanship from the 3PT range, and he would definitely make life easier for Westbrook offensively.

“The Clippers were originally going to target James Harden, but the Philadelphia 76ers have been reluctant to part with the guard. Now could be the time for the team to set their eyes on a different player like Holiday. That could also be a better fit from a basketball standpoint: Holiday is less ball-dominant than Harden and is a much better defender. Ty Lue is a coach who values defense and moving the ball, and the Clippers already have elite isolation scorers in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. It almost makes more sense to go after a complementary NBA player like Holiday rather than a focal point like Harden.”

Holiday appeared in 67 games for the Bucks last season. He averaged 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists while shooting 47.9% from the field, 38.4% from beyond the arc and 85.9% from the free-throw line. The two-time NBA All-Star signed a four-year, $135 million extension with Milwaukee in April 2021.

A California native, Holiday has career NBA averages of 16.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists with the Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans and Bucks. He has made five All-Defensive teams and helped Milwaukee win the 2021 NBA championship over the Phoenix Suns in six games.

The Clippers could start Russell Westbrook, Holiday, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac if Los Angeles’ front office figured out a way to acquire Holiday from Milwaukee.
