One NBA writer is proposing that the Memphis Grizzlies acquire Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons in a blockbuster trade. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade between the Grizzlies and Pistons:

Memphis Grizzlies receive: Bojan Bogdanovic

Detroit Pistons receive: Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams and 2026 first-round pick (top-five protected)

“The 6’7″ swingman offers three-level scoring, strong perimeter shooting and some ability to create for himself and his teammates,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Since 2018-19, he’s become a nightly source of 18.8 points on 46.6/40.4/86.5 shooting, 2.5 threes and 2.0 assists. His addition would substantially improve the Grizzlies’ offensive menu, particularly in the half-court. The threat of his three-ball alone would give this group some badly needed spacing. Memphis has finished each of the past two seasons ranked 22nd in half-court efficiency, per Cleaning the Glass. What’s worse is that’s actually the team’s highest ranking since 2014-15.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons & Memphis Grizzlies Updates

Bogdanovic is one of the top shooters in the NBA. The veteran swingman averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season for the Pistons while shooting 48.8% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc and 88.4% from the free-throw line.

In October 2022, Bogdanovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons. He will have made over $142 million in his NBA career once his current contract ends. Detroit can always start next season with Bogdanovic on the roster and move him before or at the 2024 trade deadline.

There could be a desperate playoff team in need of shooting who will give the Pistons want they want for Bogdanovic, who has career NBA averages of 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists with the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz and Pistons.

The going price multiple teams have found from the Pistons for Bogdanovic is one first and multiple seconds, which is too steep for any suitor so far, according to NBA insider Matt Moore of The Action Network.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons & Memphis Grizzlies Updates

The Grizzlies acquired Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics and traded Tyus Jones to the Washington Wizards this offseason. The team also signed former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, who played college basketball in Memphis. Both Smart and Rose are expected to mentor Ja Morant, who will miss the first 25 games of next season due to a suspension.
