NBA superstar Kyrie Irving’s tenure with the Brooklyn Nets was one marred by a ton of negativity. What was expected to be a successful pairing began turning sour almost from the start. A duo of Irving and Kevin Durant turned into a trio when the team acquired James Harden and things quickly went south.
While that trio found plenty of success when playing together, the number of times they played together was far and few between. Injuries played a big part in the three of them not being on the court together, which led to the Nets eventually trading all of them.
However, some of the absences were also self-inflicted. Irving was responsible for multiple self-sabotaging, starting when he broke the league’s health and safety protocols when he attended a birthday party. His refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, making him ineligible for a major part of the season, also cost him a ton of games.

That wasn’t the last time that Irving did something that led to missing. During the 2022-23 season, he share anti-Semitic videos on his Twitter account which led to the team suspending him until they felt he had learned the error of his ways.
While he did enough to get back onto the court with the Nets last season, and eventually get traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Irving has found himself making waves once again. On Twitter, he seemed to take a shot at the Nets when he quote tweeted something that Elon Musk said with a gif of his own.

Musk tweeted that they would fund the legal bill of anyone who was treated unfairly by an employer for something that they posted or liked on his platform. Irving responded with a gif saying, “it’s like a riddle wrapped around an enigma.”
It is certainly possible to connect the dots on this one, as Irving still believes he was wrongly suspended for his actions on social media. Now that he has moved onto a new franchise, you would think that things would be left in the past, but he just seems to be incapable of letting this one go.
