One NBA writer is proposing a blockbuster four-team trade between the Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Hawks land Pascal Siakam, the Mavericks acquire Clint Capela and the Hornets trade for Christian Wood.

Toronto Raptors Receive: De’Andre Hunter, Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, James Bouknight, Vit Krejci, a 2029 first-round pick from Atlanta and a 2030 first-round pick swap from Atlanta

Atlanta Hawks Receive: Pascal Siakam, Gordon Hayward and a 2027 first-round pick from Dallas

Dallas Mavericks Receive: Clint Capela, Thaddeus Young and Kelly Oubre Jr. (sign-and-trade)

Charlotte Hornets Receive: Bogdan Bogdanović, Otto Porter Jr. and Christian Wood (sign-and-trade)

The Hawks have been trying to trade for Siakam all summer, sources told NBA Analysis Network. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are very interested in acquiring Capela, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Dallas is looking to replace Wood, who is an unrestricted free agent and has already been informed that he won’t be going back to the Mavericks.

Siakam averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Raptors last season while shooting 48.0% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 77.4% from the free-throw line. The two-time NBA All-Star signed a four-year, $136 million rookie contract extension with the Raptors in October 2019. He will make $37.9 million next season. Siakam has career NBA averages of 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He won the 2019 title and the 2018-19 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.

Capela averaged 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds last season for the Hawks while shooting 65.3% from the field. The 29-year-old signed a two-year, $45.5 million contract extension with Atlanta in September 2021. Capela, who began his NBA career with the Houston Rockets, will make $20.6 million next season. The veteran has career NBA averages of 12.4 points and 10.7 rebounds with the Rockets and Hawks.

Wood has career NBA averages of 14.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Philadelphia 76ers, Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets and Mavericks.
