Heat Trade For Blazers’ Damian Lillard In Bold 3-Team Proposal

Damin Lillard, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

It has been a long time coming, but in the NBA world, we have all been anticipating a Damian Lillard trade request for some time now. Now that it has finally arrived, I have to admit that it has a little underwhelming feel to it. The fact remains that it is here.

Has there ever been a time when you have anticipated something so much that it kind of ruined the moment? There are times when the NBA can be the same way as well. Take a moment to think back to your childhood. December was a great month if you celebrated Christmas with your family. Isn’t it true that, in retrospect, the 25th was a little more exciting than the 15th?

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Damian Lillard, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets & Portland Trail Blazers Updates

There is a possibility of Lillard going to another team in the future. There is no doubt that he would prefer to land with the Miami Heat over any other team. Here’s how he gets there.

The Trade Proposal

Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Tyler Herro
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F/C Ben Simmons, F Royce O’Neale, 2025 First-Round Pick (PHX via BKN), 2027 First-Round Pick (PHI via BKN), 2027 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2029 First-Round Pick (DAL via BKN), 2029 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: G Damian Lillard

Having said that, we have been anticipating this event for a long time now. Damian Lillard’s career is finally coming to an end, and we can now write a eulogy for him. For years, there has been a popular notion that Portland should trade him to another city. As far as it is concerned, the time has finally come for it to become a reality.

Damian Lillard is probably one of the best Trail Blazers that has ever played the game. It is possible to make a case for Bill Walton. After that, there is no contest – it’s time for the Dame to show her stuff. As a result, this may be a cause for celebration. Lillard and the Trail Blazers have been stuck on the mediocrity treadmill for a long time now.

It was in the best interest of both parties to get a divorce. We celebrate with a heavy heart, despite the fact that we celebrate with a heavy heart. Is this the right way for the two sides to say goodbye?

Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal

As far as Tyler Herro is concerned, the Blazers do not seem to be interested in him. It is not our fault that they are doing this. This is not meant as a criticism of Herro at all. As part of their young core, the Blazers already have Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe on their team. There is no need for another off-guard to be thrown at them.

There is a need for draft capital for them. Lots and lots of it. That’s what they’re going to get here. Lillard is being traded to the Blazers for five unprotected first-round picks in the upcoming draft. Are they taking on some bad debt in order to do this? Yes, absolutely. There is no doubt that Simmons has one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

There is no point in talking about that – by the time Portland is in a position to value their cap space, Simmons will already have left the organization. Should the Nets send out draft capital to get off of his contract?

Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal

Brooklyn should be able to handle this fairly easily. It will cost them a lot of money to upgrade their roster in such a major way. There is no doubt that Herro is an imperfect player. Despite his age, he is still one of the most dynamic scorers in the league.

The last few seasons, Simmons on the other hand, has been virtually unplayable for most of the game. That’s exactly why Brooklyn are sending over so many picks.

As a result, they are giving up draft capital in order to add Herro and to get rid of Simmons. All in all, that should be a worthwhile investment. This is especially true when they need a player like Herro exactly when they need him.

In spite of the fact that this team has a deep, talented roster, they are missing a focal point on offense. There is a strong possibility that Herro could be just what the team needs to get back to the playoffs. Do the Heat need Lillard?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

In the meantime, none of these teams should have to spend more time thinking about this deal than the Miami Heat. There is no question that this is the right decision. The NBA Finals have just been reached by this team. In the meantime, the team was able to do without Herro – he had been injured for the entire stretch of the playoffs.

In this case, Miami is turning him into a Damian Lillard type of player. That is exactly the type of player they are looking for. There was a bit of a void at the point guard position for the Heat this season.

Any player in the NBA would be able to fill that role as well as Lillard. Let’s take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture. The Heat just made the NBA Finals. Now, they’ve got an opportunity to add one of the best offensive players in the NBA. It is urgent that they act now: It is not the right time to leave us waiting.
