The Sacramento Kings never offered Tyrese Haliburton to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons during the 2021-22 season, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Simmons requested a trade from the Sixers and wound up getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden. Meanwhile, the Kings traded Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers for Domantas Sabonis.

“Sources briefed on those trade talks insisted to The Stein Line last week that, contrary to persistent speculation about Sacramento’s reported interest in Ben Simmons back then, Philadelphia was not offered a Tyrese Haliburton-centric package for Simmons,” Stein wrote.

Simmons has only appeared in 42 games with the Nets. He averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists last season. The three-time All-Star missed the entire 2021-22 season.

Meanwhile, Haliburton has turned into a star with the Pacers. The guard averaged 20.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists last season while shooting 49.0% from the field, 40.0% from 3-point land and 87.1% from the free-throw line. Haliburton recorded 32 double-doubles in 56 games.

The Pacers signed Haliburton to a five-year extension worth up to $260 million this summer. Haliburton made NBA history last season, becoming the first player ever to average at least 20.0 points and 10.0 assists while shooting 40.0% from beyond the arc.

In 317 NBA games, Simmons has made only five 3-pointers. The LSU product signed a massive five-year, $177.2 million maximum rookie contract extension with the Sixers in 2019. Simmons, 27, will make $37.9 million next season.

Harden has requested a trade from the Sixers and wants to get traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. It appears neither the Nets nor the Sixers won the Simmons-Harden trade, while the Pacers and Kings both benefited from the Haliburton-Sabonis deal.
