One NBA writer is proposing that the Toronto Raptors and Oklahoma City Thunder make a blockbuster trade centered around OG Anunoby and Luguentz Dort. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report proposed that the Thunder trade Dort and four future draft picks to the Raptors for Anunoby.
“The Thunder hit the upgrade button on Dort with this deal, sending him to the Raptors for a bigger, more versatile defender in Anunoby,” Hughes wrote. “Added bonus: Anunoby has hit at least 38.7 of his trey attempts in three of the last four years (Dort is a career 33.2 percent shooter from distance) and possesses the strength to credibly defend centers.
“If Toronto can’t extend or doesn’t want to deal with Anunoby’s free agency, it does well to add a Dort on a below-market deal while also getting significant draft equity for a possible rebuild. Lastly, an OKC lineup of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams, Anunoby and Holmgren is the stuff dreams are made of.”

Anunoby and Dort are two of the best defenders in the NBA. The former is considered a better overall player than the latter since he can score and shoot the ball at a higher clip. Anunoby averaged 16.8 points last season for the Raptors while shooting 38.7% from beyond the arc, while Dort put up 13.7 points per game for the Thunder on 33.0% shooting from 3.
The Raptors have received a bevy of calls about Anunoby, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he declines his 2024-25 player option worth $19.9 million. As of now, Toronto doesn’t intend to trade Anunoby, sources told NBA Analysis Network.
