James Harden still wants the Philadelphia 76ers to trade him to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Even though Harden was at a party with Joel Embiid and former Sixers owner Michael Rubin in Las Vegas, he’s still determined to start next season in a Clippers jersey.
“Harden’s stance has not changed, a source close to him told The Athletic,” Amick wrote. “He still wants to leave Philadelphia. He’s still upset with how Morey handled his situation heading into possible free agency last month. And even with the recent revelation that Harden attended the same NBPA party as Sixers co-star Joel Embiid and former Sixers owner Michael Rubin in Vegas he’s still determined to start next season in a Clippers jersey.”
After Harden learned about the Sixers’ plans to not give him a max deal this summer, he opted into his player option and requested a trade. The future Hall of Famer believes he should be compensated fairly after averaging 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists last season while shooting 44.1% from the field, 38.5% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free-throw line.

New Sixers head coach Nick Nurse and Harden met in Houston in June and the meeting went well. However, money has gotten in the way between Harden and the Sixers. Harden wants a max contract and Philadelphia doesn’t want to give “The Beard” one.
Harden is extremely upset at the way in which Philly handled his possible free agency and has made his dissatisfaction clear to the franchise. There was initially strong optimism on Harden’s side that he would be traded to the Clippers since both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are said to be on board with the idea of Harden potentially joining them in Los Angeles.
