Multiple NBA teams are interested in trading at least one first-round pick for Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro, according to Shams Charania.

Damian Lillard wants the Portland Trail Blazers to trade him to the Heat, but the Blazers are not interested in Herro. For the Heat to acquire Lillard, a third team will need to get involved.

“I do think, as I talk to teams around the league, there is a framework with Miami where Portland could end up with three, four, at least several first-round draft picks,” Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show. “I don’t know if it will get to four. Miami has two they can trade outright. I think there are multiple teams who would trade at least one first-round pick for Tyler Herro.”

Herro has been telling people close to him that he expects to get traded by the Heat to the Brooklyn Nets, according to Ethan J. Skolnick of 5 Reasons Sports. The Heat, Nets and Blazers could do a three-team trade centered around Lillard, who only wants to play for Miami.

Herro has removed “Miami Heat guard” from his Twitter bio. The Kentucky product averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Heat last season. He was third on the team in points per game, trailing only Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

The 23-year-old Herro signed a four-year, $120 million rookie contract extension with the Heat in October 2022. The Milwaukee native has career averages of 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 242 games with Miami. He broke his hand in the first round of the 2023 playoffs versus the Milwaukee Bucks and never came back.

Both Butler and Adebayo want the Heat to trade for Lillard, who averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists last season. Miami is 0-2 in the NBA Finals in the Butler-Adebayo era. The team is missing a superstar like Lillard.
