The Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers attended John Wall’s private workout in Las Vegas, according to NBA insider Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
Wall is an unrestricted free agent. The Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals in seven games, while the Blazers missed the postseason.
Seven-time All-Star Damian Lillard has requested a trade from Portland and wants to get traded to the Miami Heat.
Wall appeared in 34 games for the Los Angeles Clippers last season. He averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 40.8% from the floor, 30.3% from beyond the arc and 68.1% from the free-throw line.
The Clippers traded Wall to the Houston Rockets at the 2023 February trade deadline. The Rockets waived Wall, who wasn’t signed by a team. The Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. They replaced Wall with former MVP Russell Westbrook, who re-signed with Los Angeles this summer.

The 32-year-old Wall has career averages of 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists in 647 games with the Washington Wizards, Rockets and Clippers. He has made five All-Star teams, one All-NBA team and one All-Defensive team, all coming with the Wizards.
It will be fascinating to see if Wall is signed by a team. While the Kentucky product is no longer a superstar, he’s still a capable scorer and passer. Wall’s best game of last season came against the Utah Jazz. He put up 26 points and five assists while shooting 7-of-19 overall and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line in a 13-point loss.
