The Atlanta Hawks are trading TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Patty Mills, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The Hawks are saving $4.5 million by making the trade.
The Hawks have to decide if they want to keep Mills. His $6.8 million expiring contract will continue to have value in deals.
Mills appeared in 40 games for the Brooklyn Nets last season. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 41.1% from the field, 36.6% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line. The Nets got swept by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.
Brooklyn traded Mills to the Houston Rockets, who then moved the NBA champion to the Thunder. Now, Mills is getting traded to the Hawks and it’s not guaranteed he will stay in Atlanta.
