The Toronto Raptors are interested in Chicago Bulls restricted free agent Ayo Dosunmu, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

As a restricted free agent, Dosunmu can sign an offer sheet with another team and then the Bulls would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet. The Raptors lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets. Although they signed Dennis Schroder, Toronto could sign another guard for depth purposes.

“The Raptors have a lot left to determine after losing Fred VanVleet to the Rockets,” Fischer wrote. “Toronto did add Dennis Schröder as a replacement, and the Raptors, sources said, had also expressed interest in Bulls restricted free agent guard Ayo Dosunmu. It remains to be seen if Toronto will conduct further business to overcome the loss of its starting point guard.”

Dosunmu appeared in 80 games for the Bulls last season. He averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 49.3% from the field, 31.2% from beyond the arc and 80.5% from the free-throw line.

The Bulls drafted Dosunmu with the 38th overall pick in the 2021 draft. The Chicago native has career averages of 8.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 157 games with his hometown club. It will be interesting to see if Dosunmu is back with the Bulls next season or if he’s playing for a new team.

Chicago re-signed Coby White and Nikola Vucevic and signed Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig. The Bulls missed the playoffs last season after making it in 2022. The team lost the 8-9 play-in game to the Miami Heat after beating the Raptors in the 9-10 play-in game.

The Raptors re-signed Jakob Poeltl and signed Jalen McDaniel. The futures of Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby are up in the air since several contenders are interested in trading for the forwards. Opposing front offices still believe the Raptors’ high valuation of Siakam and Anunoby marks the biggest roadblock to any potential trade.
