Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal
As far as Tyler Herro is concerned, the Blazers do not seem to be interested in him. It is not our fault that they are doing this.
This is not meant as a criticism of Herro at all. As part of their young core, the Blazers already have Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe on their team. There is no need for another off-guard to be thrown at them.
There is a need for draft capital for them. Lots and lots of it. That’s what they’re going to get here. Lillard is being traded to the Blazers for five unprotected first-round picks in the upcoming draft.
Are they taking on some bad debt in order to do this? Yes, absolutely. There is no doubt that Simmons has one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

There is no point in talking about that – by the time Portland is in a position to value their cap space, Simmons will already have left the organization.
Should the Nets send out draft capital to get off of his contract?
