What is the importance of depth in the NBA? There are some who would argue that it is one of the most important factors. Having a deep team is a sure sign that the team will last a long time.

If a team has quality players throughout its roster, it is more likely to experience injuries or even go through a slump during certain periods of the season. 

On the other hand, what happens when the playoffs begin? Rotations tend to be shorter as time goes on. When it comes down to it, it is unlikely that an NBA head coach will pick more than eight or nine players to play. 

Take a look at the Los Angeles Clippers for example. This is a team that couldn’t even find time for Robert Covington this season.
