The Memphis Grizzlies are interested in signing power forward Draymond Green once free agency starts on June 30. However, according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the four-time All-Star is expected to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors. Green could sign a new three-year deal with the Warriors.
“I continue to hear nothing but strong confidence emanating from the Bay Area that an agreement on a multi-year deal for Green to stay right where he’s always been is forthcoming,” Stein wrote. “(A three-year deal, league sources say, is a popular current projection for the 33-year-old.)
“League sources say that the Grizzlies nonetheless had strong interest in Green and were plotting to make some sort of run at him.”
The Warriors drafted Green with the 35th overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Michigan State. They have won four championships and played in six NBA Finals in the Green-Stephen Curry-Klay Thompson era. Even though Bob Myers is no longer in Golden State, new Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. was never going to let Green leave the Dubs.
