The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to receive trade offers for center Jarrett Allen, according to NBA insider Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
None of the trade overtures have been appealing enough for the Cavaliers to part ways with Allen.
“Despite a public declaration that they weren’t planning to make any sweeping roster changes in the aftermath of a disappointing first-round playoff exit, the Cavs continue to receive trade offers for All-Star center Jarrett Allen, sources tell cleveland.com,” Fedor wrote. “None of the trade overtures have been appealing enough and thus far the Cavs are telling rival teams, ‘Thanks but no thanks.’
“Some of the packages have involved multiple players. Others have been more pick-centric, allowing Cleveland to recoup some lost assets following last summer’s blockbuster trade for Second Team All-NBA guard Donovan Mitchell. There are also ones combining picks and players.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jarrett Allen & Cleveland Cavaliers Updates
Fedor said the Dallas Mavericks tried to trade for Allen, who averaged 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 blocks for the Cavaliers this past season while shooting 64.4% from the field and 73.3% from the free-throw line. He signed a five-year, $100 million contract with Cleveland in August 2021.
“Sources say the Dallas Mavericks, who own the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and have sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr. — a player the Cavs discussed at the February trade deadline — were one team that recently reached out about Allen’s availability,” Fedor wrote. “While it’s unclear what was offered, the Mavericks have been seeking a pick-and-roll partner for guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jarrett Allen & Cleveland Cavaliers Updates
The Cavaliers made the 2023 playoffs but lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in five games, so the front office could make some changes to the roster this offseason. However, it appears Allen isn’t going anywhere. The one-time All-Star is only 25 and will continue to get better.
Allen has career averages of 12.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocks with the Brooklyn Nets and Cavaliers. He was the 22nd overall pick in the 2017 draft out of Texas.
