For the Celtics, this is a higher risk, higher reward proposition. 

Let’s not undersell the risk involved here. We don’t know if Williamson will ever return to form. On the other hand, if he does, this could be a steal for the Celtics. 

After all, a healthy Williamson is perhaps the most automatic paint touch in the NBA. This guy can get to the rim at will. Pairing him with a shooter like Tatum could give the Celtics an unstoppable offense. 

In fact, they’d have a more varied attack than the Celtics currently do. Tatum and Brown are functionally similar. By contrast, Williamson would give them a new wrinkle.
