The value of future NBA draft capital shouldn’t be undersold, considering the restrictive nature of the looming Collective Bargaining Agreement changes.

In the NBA, you can’t overstate the value of first-round picks. In recent years, they’ve become the currency of the league. If a star player requests a trade, in all likelihood, they’ll be moved for a package of first-round picks. 

With that in mind, some picks are more valuable than others. For example, a distant pick from an aging contender holds special value. The probability of that pick landing in the lottery is higher than average. 

For example, look at the Los Angeles Lakers. They only have one future first that’s eligible to be traded.

Yet, their 2029 first-rounder could be among the most valuable trade assets in the NBA. With an urgent need to win now with LeBron James, they could capitalize on that value.

Could it be valuable enough to fetch them Terry Rozier of the Charlotte Hornets?
