Still, Martin’s functionality as a cutter and a lob threat make him a lethal partner for a strong playmaker. We saw him develop chemistry with Alperen Sengun throughout the 2022-23 season.
Imagine how he’d look alongside Luka Doncic. He’s one of the best playmakers in the NBA. Martin would benefit from playing alongside him, and vice versa.
Sure, the Mavericks have bigger priorities. They need to retain Kyrie Irving in free agency, and they should probably land a bigger fish than Martin too.

Still, they’ll be on the hunt for cheap talent if they do accomplish those two tasks.
Of course, plenty of teams will be on that same hunt.
