This Mavs-Kings Trade Sends Intriguing Big Man To Dallas

Dallas Mavericks, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

One NBA writer is proposing that the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings make a trade this summer.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Mavericks trade shooting guard Reggie Bullock to the Kings for power forward Richaun Holmes.

“With Harrison Barnes hitting free agency this summer, the Kings could be in need of help on the wing,” Swartz wrote. “Bullock can play and defend multiple positions with his 6’6” frame and shot 38.0 percent from three this season. He’s a proven 3-and-D option for a Kings team that may need just that if Barnes leaves (or even if he doesn’t).

“Holmes gives the Mavs a potential starting center with Christian Wood and Dwight Powell becoming free agents. Holmes, 29, has witnessed his role diminish following Sacramento’s trade for Domantas Sabonis, but he averaged 11.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and shot 68.3 percent overall as a starter in 2021-22.”

Bullock averaged 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Mavericks this season while shooting 40.9% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc and 70.3% from the free-throw line. Dallas went 38-44 and didn’t even qualify for the play-in tournament despite having All-Stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Meanwhile, Holmes averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Kings while shooting 61.8% from the field and 78.9% from the free-throw line. Sacramento won 48 games and made the playoffs for the first time since 2006. However, the Kings lost to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the first round in seven games.

Bullock has career averages of 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists with the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Mavericks. He’s a career 38.4% shooter from 3-point land.

Holmes, meanwhile, has career averages of 8.9 points and 5.4 boards with the Philadelphia 76ers, Suns and Kings. He’s a career 60.6% shooter from the floor.
