The Dallas Mavericks have all of their eggs in one basket this NBA offseason. That basket happens to be notoriously flimsy.
Yes, we’re talking about Kyrie Irving. The Mavericks need to retain him this summer. If they don’t, they’ll have invested assets in a half-season rental. That’s not an acceptable outcome.
Even after retaining Irving, they’ll have work to do. This roster is generally unbalanced. The Mavericks need to improve the group around their star duo of Irving and Luka Doncic.
They have plenty of needs. The Mavericks could use a defensive anchor. Another 3-and-D wing would be nice.
On the other hand, they may need a third option behind Doncic and Irving as much as they need anything else.
Could Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons be that option?
