Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal

In simple terms, the Bulls do this deal to make a change. One way or another, they need one.

This could lead to a Zach LaVine trade. The Bulls could let Nikola Vucevic walk in free agency, too. If the Bulls make this deal, they’d have to at least consider a full-scale rebuild.

That doesn’t mean they’d need to launch one. Alternatively, the Bulls could retool around LaVine. He’s young enough to afford the Bulls a couple of years to put a new core together.

Herro could be part of that core. Whether the two volume scorers can co-exist is a fair question. If they can’t, the Bulls will have to make other deals.
