One NBA writer is proposing that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards make a trade this summer.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Cavaliers trade a 2023 second-round pick (No. 49 overall), a 2025 second-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick (via the Denver Nuggets) to the Wizards for small forward Corey Kispert.
“The Cavs desperately need shooting from the wing, and with a new front office running the Wizards, Cleveland should check on the price of Kispert,” Swartz wrote. “The 24-year-old forward averaged a career-high 11.1 points per game last season, shooting 42.4 percent from three. Not simply a spot-up shooter, Kispert can put the ball on the floor and drive, keeping defenses honest. The Cavaliers don’t have a first-round pick to part with, but if the Wizards enter into a rebuild, Cleveland can offer four second-rounders to help its efforts.
“Injecting Kispert’s floor-spacing into a starting lineup with Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen would be a huge boost for this offense next season.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Corey Kispert, Washington Wizards & Cleveland Cavaliers Updates
Kispert averaged 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the Wizards this season while shooting 49.7% from the field, 42.4% from beyond the arc and 85.2% from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers need more shooters, which is why Swartz believes Kispert is a good trade target for Donovan Mitchell’s team.
The 24-year-old Kispert has career averages of 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He’s a career 39.1% shooter from 3-point land.
The Cavaliers won 51 games this season and made the playoffs for the time without LeBron James on the roster since 1998. Unfortunately, Cleveland lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in five quick games. The Cavs’ only win was in Game 2.

It will be interesting to see if Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman makes any trades this summer after the team had a rough end to the season.
