Dwight Howard told Mark Haynes of the Sacramento Observer that he hasn’t retired from the NBA and would love to play for the Sacramento Kings.

Howard, one of the best players in NBA history, currently plays professional basketball in Taiwan.

“I’m not retired from the NBA just yet,” Howard told Haynes. “I would love to help the Sacramento Kings contend for a title. Even though I believe their team is pretty much set.”

The Kings made the playoffs this season for the first time since 2006. They won 48 games in the regular season and were the third seed in the Western Conference. However, Sacramento lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2023 postseason in seven games.

Even though the Kings got bounced in the first round by the Warriors, Howard believes Sacramento has a really bright future.

“I think the Kings will continue to get better with experience,” Howard said. “The thing that stood out most this year was the contracts that players signed accepting their roles and actually sticking with it no matter what. … I like Mike Brown. I think he’s an amazing coach, and what he accomplished this year was very impressive.”

Howard played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 61.2% from the field. No team offered Howard an NBA contract this year, so he took his talents to Taiwan.
