Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

Sure it is. Marcus Smart would be a massive addition to this roster. 

Smart is the first guard to win Defensive Player of the Year since Gary Payton. Read that sentence again. Smart isn’t just a good defensive guard – he’s a historically good one. 

He’s also developed into a solid playmaker. Granted, at times, his limitations in that area were exploited in this year’s playoffs. Smart isn’t a pure point guard.

That’s fine. LeBron James is perhaps the best playmaking forward in NBA history.
