For the Lakers, this deal probably rests on what else happens with their roster. 

Recently, they’ve been linked to plenty of stars. If the Lakers don’t land a Kyrie Irving or a Fred VanVleet, they may feel like they have to keep Reaves on their roster. 

Let’s assume that they do. Suddenly, the Lakers may prefer depth. Here, they’re acquiring two rotation players at the price of one. If they’ve got another star on their roster, that’s appealing.
