It’s going to be an interesting NBA offseason for the Dallas Mavericks. 

This team underwhelmed in 2022-23. Now, they’re in an interesting position. The Mavericks surrendered valuable assets to acquire Kyrie Irving. Now, he might leave them in free agency. 

If so, it could be a disaster. Irving’s departure would leave the Mavericks with few avenues to improve. This team has the assets to add a big piece – but not a piece as big as Irving. 

On the other hand, let’s assume that he stays. Now, the Mavericks have Irving, Luka Doncic, and the assets to land another big piece. 

There is a significant need for the Mavericks to improve on defense and rebounding this offseason. The team’s messaging has those as top priorities. How could they address it?
