Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal 

Some will suggest that this is not what theyre expected Portland to do. It’s not what we’re expecting them to do, either. 

We’re expecting them to trade the third overall pick for some help for Lillard. That seems like the most likely route for this organization. Is it the best one? 

It depends. If the Charlotte Hornets select Scoot Henderson with the second overall pick, it might be. Lillard just wrapped up a phenomenal individual season. The Blazers could feel that, with the right pieces, he can get them back to contention.

On the other hand, suppose the Hornets, as rumored, take Brandon Miller. The Blazers should probably bite the bullet and select Scoot Henderson.

In that event, adding Herro to a core featuring him, Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons makes good sense.
