No team needs to be monitoring Irving more closely than the Mavericks. 

They need to give him everything he desires this summer. The Mavericks should offer him the biggest contract they can. If he wants the deed to a ranch in rural Texas, they should arrange that as well. 

After all, losing him could make for a catastrophe. The Mavericks surrendered Dorian Finney-Smith and a first-round pick to land Irving. If they lose him, they’ll gain nothing in return.

That could have implications for Luka Doncic’s future with the squad. Losing Irving makes Dallas worse, and also leaves them with fewer assets to improve. Dallas needs to retain their star point guard. 

With that said, they shouldn’t count on it.
