Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

This may not be the right decision for the Bulls. We know that. 

Some will argue that the Bulls ought to rebuild. Perhaps. On the other hand, they’ve certainly invested a lot in trying to be in win-now mode. 

With that in mind, perhaps rebuilding isn’t the move. It may be easier to simply retool. Here, they’re acquiring one of the best two-way big in the NBA in Davis.

What’s more, he’s a hometown hero. Davis may be incentivized to stick it out in Chicago. He and DeMar DeRozan could lead a playoff run next season, and the Bulls could opt to further retool through trades and free agency. 

If LeBron James really does retire, of course, this will be moot.
