Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal
When the Celtics acquired Brogdon, we thought they were getting their point guard. Instead, Brogdon has proven to be more of a combo guard.
On the other hand, Jones is a point guard. In fact, he’s one of the purest in the NBA. Jones leads the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio on a seemingly annual basis.
Meanwhile, the Celtics may need a replacement for Robert Williams III. As talented as he is, he’s become unreliable. Adams, to an extent, could be the answer.

No, he’s not as versatile as Williams III. Adams can’t switch onto the perimeter like Time Lord. If Williams III gets hurt, Adams at least equips the Celtics with a solid rim protector. If he doesn’t, they’ll still find time for Adams as an outstanding backup 5.
If everything clicks, this deal could get Boston to the NBA Finals next season.
