Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

It’s hard to say. With that said, it isn’t entirely the point, either. 

Bamba and Hartenstein could probably co-exist for spells. Bamba spaces the floor to some extent.

With that said, they probably lack the combined lateral quickness to be a viable defensive pairing on a regular basis.

Who cares? The Knicks should be happy to take Bamba. Still, Hartenstein will probably start over him. They’re not doing this deal to bring him in. 

They’re doing it for the Lakers’ first-round pick. Given the rumors that Robinson is unhappy in New York, that’s a tremendous asset for them to acquire.
