Size will always count in basketball. Being tall will always be an advantage. Perhaps that’s why the NBA is trending toward the return of the twin towers model.
After all, it’s a copycat league. When teams see something working, they wonder if it might work for them.
Just look at the Los Angeles Lakers. They won the 2019-20 NBA championship by playing Anthony Davis alongside a conventional big.
The Lakers bruised their way to the title with sheer force.
This year’s Lakers don’t have quite the same frontcourt depth. The Lakers are still big, but they don’t have a regular twin towers duo to rival the ones they were able to field during that title run.
Could they remedy that this summer?
