Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal
This deal depends on a number of factors for the Celtics. More than anything, it depends on Brown demanding a trade.
If he doesn’t, they’ll stick with what they have. Even then, Brown would have to indicate that he’d be happy in New Orleans. Otherwise, the Pelicans would likely get trigger shy.
Let’s assume that both of those things happen. Brown wants out of Boston, and he’s content to land in New Orleans. In that event, this is a good deal for them.
After all, it doesn’t crater their win-now chances. In fact, McCollum could be the ball-handler this team is missing.

Throw in a young potential star like Daniels and three first-round picks, and the Celtics would have to consider this. Provided that they’re forced to do so, that is.
