On Sunday afternoon, the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics battled it out in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Thanks to a spectacular performance from Jayson Tatum, Boston was able to knock off their longtime rival.
Among the reasons why the 76ers fell to Boston was their stars struggling. James Harden played 41 minutes on Sunday and finished nine points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Following this poor performance, all eyes are on the former MVP to see what he is going to do next.
This offseason, Harden has the chance to decline his player option for next year and become a free agent. During his post-game media availability, he spoke a little about the road ahead.
“I haven’t even thought about it yet,” Harden said of his future. “I feel like we had a pretty solid team. Obviously, you always look to get better, whether it’s the personnel you have now or adding pieces. We’ll see how it goes.”

Joel Embiid was also asked about Harden’s possible departure, but stuck by his teammate. Despite how things went this season, he still feels the two have a shot to win at the highest level together.
“I don’t know what’s going on and I know he has a player option so they can extend him,” Embiid added. “That’s on those guys (the front office) to figure it out. I’m gonna stay out of it, but I still believe that me and him, we got the chance to win, but it’s gonna take more than us. We gotta look at ourselves. I gotta be better and I will be better. That’s what I’m focused on.”
