Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
The Pelicans probably won’t do this deal this summer. It’s a little bit depressing.
After all, Williamson was supposed to be a franchise-changing star. When he’s been healthy, he’s looked the part, too. Unfortunately, that’s far too rare of an occurrence.
Realistically, that’s why they’re taking back a subpar return here. This is not the type of return they’d hope for in exchange for Williamson. What are the Pelicans doing here? Waiving a white flag.
Essentially, this deal has the Pelicans losing faith in Williamson’s body. Again, it’s unlikely they ultimately choose to do so, but it wouldn’t be unjustified.

Should the Knicks give so much up for Robinson?
