What is clear for the Knicks is that Jalen Brunson is a genuine star and their best player. New York has to find ways to bring meaningful help to give him what he needs to lead the team to new heights next season. Right now, he needs a co-star.

Julius Randle has continued to be a postseason disappointment — further reducing any sense of confidence that he is capable of being one of the top players on a title team. The same can be said about RJ Barrett after another disappointing series.

Unless the Knicks get a chance to trade for an established superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Luka Doncic, they may need to be opportunistic and take risks.
