Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

Frankly, we’re not sure how this works out for New York. 

They may take a step backward. Randle was key for them in this year’s regular season. If they go on to beat the Miami Heat in the second round, they won’t do this deal. 

Let’s assume that they don’t. In that event, the Knicks may feel that they’ve got a ceiling on this group. This deal is a bid to eventually blast through it.

The Knicks could use these draft picks to make another trade down the road.

In the meantime, Hield is one of the best shooters in the NBA. This trade would require the Knicks to build even more of their offense around Jalen Brunson. If that works out, who knows?
