Why The Minnesota Timberwolves Do The Deal 

It’s worth noting that this would be LaVine’s second tour of duty in Minnesota. Of course, the Wolves don’t make this deal for sentimental reasons. 

They do it to assemble the most athletic duo in the NBA. LaVine would be joining Anthony Edwards on this version of the Timberwolves. Their combined rim pressure would give opponents fits on a nightly basis. 

That’s not the only benefit here, either. This deal helps the Wolves balance their roster. By pairing Gobert with Jaden McDaniels in the frontcourt, they’d be assembling a sleek, modern defensive frontcourt. In fact, they’d be one of the best defensive duos in the NBA.

Finally, we’re assuming that Towns has a little more trade value than LaVine. That’s why the Wolves are getting Chicago’s first-round pick in the next draft here.
