Karl-Anthony Towns was supposed to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to the promised land when he was a No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.
It may not happen. These parties have been together for a long time. They’ve fallen short of their goals. At some point, they may decide that enough is enough.
When you consider the presence of Anthony Edwards, that holds especially true. This is probably the new face of this organization.
Meanwhile, the fit between Towns and Rudy Gobert has been questionable as well.
Could the Wolves trade Gobert? Sure. Could they get value for him? That’s another question. Meanwhile, they could surely get a sizeable return for Towns.
Like this one from the Detroit Pistons, for example.
