Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Some fans won’t like this decision for the Nets – depending on where the pick lands, that is.
If the Pistons are sending out the second pick, the Nets can’t refuse. Scoot Henderson is a player they could build around for a decade or more. Even while owing their upcoming picks to the Houston Rockets, the Nets would have a franchise player for the future.
If the Pistons’ pick lands lower and the Nets still do this deal, some fans will be outraged. Why is Brooklyn bottoming out without their own draft capital to show for it?
Well, as constructed, they’re stuck in the middle. Even if the Pistons are sending them the fourth or fifth pick, the Nets arguably should take a swing on a prospect like Cameron Whitmore or Ausar Thompson.

Throw in a promising young player like Bagley and an extra first-round pick, and the Nets would have to entertain this offer.
Provided that the Pistons are open to moving their pick in the first place, of course.
