Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal 

Some Hornets fans won’t love this level of investment in Claxton. Fair enough. Mark Williams looked like a potential starter as a rookie.

Why would the Hornets want two bigs who, in all likelihood, can’t share the floor? It’s not complicated, actually. Claxton is much better.

This is one of the most versatile defensive bigs in the NBA. Claxton can defend the paint, but if he’s forced to switch, he can lock down the perimeter as well. 

With that in mind, Williams could make for a solid backup next year. Suddenly, the Hornets would have one of the best big-man rotations in the NBA.
